Today in J/N History

1939 Nelson marries Ann Franklin in Las Vegas, accompanied by his reluctant mother Isabel and Ann's friend Doris Kenyon. Kenyon was a silent film actress and also occasionally co-starred with Nelson in live opera in Los Angeles. Nelson by his own statement had been drinking and one newspaper clipping noted that he was halfway up the aisle before realizing that Doris not Ann was at his side.
