Today in J/N History

1936 Filming today on Jeanette's "San Francisco" includes many great silent actors playing bit roles. Director Woody Van Dyke tried to employ as many of the old timers as he could. According to Kid Chissell (Clark Gable's stunt double in the film), Woody and Jeanette also helped to support at least 30 actors. And each morning on set, Jeanette took the time to personally greet them. "There was something highly spiritual about Jeanette," said Chissell.
