Description

What a find! During our move, we discovered an unopened box of hardcover first edition Sweethearts shipped to us in 1994 from the original Penguin/Putnum publisher. These books are in near-mint condition and can be signed upon request. PLEASE NOTE: the book has been majorly updated and the 2014 edition is the current edition., but for those who collect them, we have only a few copies left and they are priced at $20 each. If you’d like the book signed, please note in the “comment” section of your order who it should be autographed to and if any message. Note: the current 2014 edition can also be signed on request.

Today in J/N History

1939 Three days after his marriage to Ann Franklin, Nelson does his normal "Chase & Sanborn" radio show. But it is awkward, the attempt to congratulate him by ushering him to the microphone with wedding music falls flat, Nelson is aloof and businesslike in the banter and the subject is quickly dropped. Singing "Little Grey Home in the West" (promoting "Sweethearts" which was still in movie theaters) must have been painful for him; the song is introduced without mentioning Jeanette's name or the film's name...and Nelson sings it like a funeral dirge.
