1938Walter Pidgeon is offered the lead opposite Jeanette in "Broadway Serenade" but turns it down. (We don't know the reason why but perhaps he wasn't impressed with the on-set histrionics going on between her and Nelson during the filming of "Girl of the Golden West.") Lew Ayres replaces Pidgeon, simultaneously filming "Broadway Serenade" and "Ice Follies of 1939".
