Description

New release! Journal #81 features a detailed account of why, in 1948, Jeanette’s husband Gene Raymond temporarily moved into the guest house at Twin Gables and was ready to bail from their marriage. Jeanette mentions their near-divorce in her autobiography, but not fully what prompted it. Why did Gene and Nelson almost get into a fight, and who stopped them? What happened to Jeanette and Nelson’s plan to make a film together that year at MGM? The main article, entitled “1948: The Year of Discontent,” details the events, drawing on original letters written in 1948, with many photos and other documentation of what really happened behind the scenes. Also included are more Sybil Thomas interview notes, as originally typed up in 1981, providing insight into information she either witnessed, or was told by Nelson, Jeanette, or Isabel Eddy.
