1938 Nelson refuses all interviews during the final weeks of this year, perhaps too unhappy with the unresolved situation with Jeanette...and his ultimate decision to "give up love and devote my life to music." What that quote says about his being seen in public a couple of times with Ann Franklin is anyone's guess.
