You asked, we did it! A photo-filled tour guide to all the Jeanette/Nelson homes, landmarks, graves, etc. Lots of photos inside some of the houses plus maps, interesting background data, history, years they lived there, etc. A must-have magazine if you’re planning to do a “driving tour” of Los Angeles! Also, another must-have: the original TV script for Jeanette’s episode of “This is Your Life” before Nelson Eddy agreed to make an appearance. An eye-opener and you’ll never guess who was scheduled to sing at the show’s end! The episode would have been very different had Nelson not decided to show up. Also included is a lengthy excerpt from a Lucile Mereto letter, in which she documents Nelson’s shocking plans for 1948. And finally, a lengthy article written by Madeline Bayless detailing her family’s close friendship with Nelson, when as a young girl she answered the front doorbell and found Nelson standing there, arrived for a meeting with her father. Madeline saw Nelson many times as Jim Bayless, Sr. not only built Nelson’s home recording equipment, he frequently met with Nelson, recording his radio shows and bringing him the discs so Nelson listen and could critique himself. Jim also taught Nelson high-tech recording techniques such as singing 4-part harmony with himself. Madeline sometimes accompanied her dad to “Mists”, the Nelson/Jeanette hideaway home. This issue also includes a tribute to Madeline who passed away just as this magazine was going to press, along with a tribute to Bernadette Schwartz, our beloved original social media moderator.
