Today in J/N History

1929 For the New York opening of her first film, "The Love Parade," Jeanette joined director Ernst Lubitsch for a radio interview broadcast from the Criterion Theater. She also spoke to the audience and became an overnight sensation. Her co-star Maurice Chevalier was conspicuously absent, citing an injured hand. But as "Variety" slyly observed, “Chevalier has an actress who all but steals the picture.”
