About

This blog brings news and reviews for fans of classic movies and in particular the fans of 1930s icons Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. We are very interested in hearing from anyone who wants to share anecdotes about the classic film years, especially those who knew MacDonald and/or Eddy, whether friends, family, co-stars, movie extras, lovers or business associates. Our main website: www.maceddy.com. Please email Sharon Rich with news tips or anecdotes; if pertinent to the personal stories of MacDonald or Eddy (in particular their off-screen affair) we can also arrange to film you for an upcoming documentary. Review copies of books, DVDs and CDs pertaining to Hollywood’s Golden Age should be sent to: Sharon Rich, c/o Mac/Eddy Club, PO Box 1077, New York, NY 10002.

1938 Walter Pidgeon is offered the lead opposite Jeanette in "Broadway Serenade" but turns it down. (We don't know the reason why but perhaps he wasn't impressed with the on-set histrionics going on between her and Nelson during the filming of "Girl of the Golden West.") Lew Ayres replaces Pidgeon, simultaneously filming "Broadway Serenade" and "Ice Follies of 1939".
